Forms processing and document capture software à la SWT
A wise move as French market leader opens for
business
 SWT,
France’s leading forms processing and intelligent document capture
software developer, has opened for business in the UK following the completion
of a 3.8m euro share capital increase. This increase will provide SWT
with the means to develop its commercial presence not only in the UK but
also in other regions of Europe including Germany, Italy and Spain. SWT
made its debut at the IMeXpo 2003 exhibition in early May.
SWT has an 18-month technological lead over its main
competitors and has succeeded in achieving an annual growth rate of 50
per cent since 1997. Expansion into the UK is a key part of SWT’s
strategy to develop its business outside of France. The company already
has over 300 customers in France, mainly in the government, banking and
pensions sectors and will be focusing on these markets to develop business
in the UK.
SWT has appointed Andy Dawson to manage the UK business.
Andy has many years of experience in the document management and capture
market place, both in Europe and the US. Prior to joining SWT, Andy was
director of strategic alliances for ActionPoint, another leading document
capture vendor.
Last year, thanks to its intensive R&D policy, SWT
released three new products: ICR Money to automatically capture and process
all payment types; Dispatcher to sort and index all incoming mail, and
ICR Invoice to process all types of invoices. The success of these products
would indicate that SWT’s software is meeting its customers’
needs.
IDR: leading a revolution
Intelligent Document Recognition (IDR) is a new technology that will revolutionise
the way companies work by enabling them to automatically recognise unstructured
documents, such as invoices, and to extract data and metadata, using the
context of the document and the application that it supports. It is expected
to represent 10 per cent of the entire document capture market in 2003
(Strategy Partners).

The b-Wize software range
b-Wize software consists of four efficient and easily scalable products
designed to capture, recognise, index and store high volumes of information
from various types of documents: paper documents, fax, and web forms.
The characters can be machine printed, handwritten, alphabetical, numeric,
check boxes, barcodes, etc.
b-Wize Invoice is a powerful, yet user-friendly, client/server
software product designed to convert all of a customer’s invoices
into digital information within a single flow. b-Wize Invoice extracts
indexes and automatically processes important information found on invoices
such as invoice reference, date, payment details, total amount to pay,
etc.
b-Wize Mail uses b-Wize Dispatcher technology to capture
and transform all incoming mail, classifying and indexing it before feeding
it to EDM, ECM or other company information systems.
b-Wize Money is software for automatic bank cheque recognition.
It processes all the document types together, payment cheques and all
associated documents such as purchase orders, payment slips and any other
administrative form.
b-Wize Form can scan and optically recognise all types
of documents, regardless of their source, format and size. It is particularly
well suited for processing administrative forms, purchase orders, and
reply coupons.
b-Wize Dispatcher is a technology used in several b-Wize
products that is able to identify, rank and index a set of heterogeneous
documents, including unstructured documents, based on a fully automatic
learning process. As part of b-Wize Mail, it provides the ideal solution
for identifying and sorting all incoming mail automatically.
E-Tools
E-Tools enables SWT technicians to install and set up any b-Wize customer
application over the Internet, in a short and secure session. This unique
module also allows b-Wize upgrades to be sent via the Internet. Finally,
E-Tools enables all authorised users to retrieve scanned documents instantaneously
through their standard browser.
b-Wize business solutions
SWT and its integrators provide a set of business solutions based on the
b-Wize product family. These solutions include software, consulting services,
maintenance and hardware.
b-Wize Pension Funds/Insurance offers a specific solution
for pension fund institutions and insurance companies. The solution reads
in all incoming correspondence and automatically processes documents (annual
salary statements, premium statements, claims forms, etc.) and payment
methods (cheques, payment slips etc.) This solution includes document
acquisition, information extraction, secure transfer of client files via
a customised workflow and Z42-01 3 compliant archiving of scanned documents.
b-Wize Health is designed for medical laboratories, Health
Maintenance Organisations (HMOs) and other mutual health insurance organisations.
This solution has been developed to optimise the processing of documents
received by these different organisations including medical care itemisations,
invoices from health care workers, payment documents, medical claim forms.
b-Wize Health combines document scanning and indexing, information extraction,
image storing and viewing.
b-Wize Banking automates document processing for banks
and financial institutions. It is the answer to banking sector challenges
such as rapid information exchange between the back and front office,
automatic reading of enrolment contracts for various financial products
and processing commercial documents or reading-in account creation forms.
b-Wize Banking integrates automatic identification and indexing of incoming
correspendence that will complement customer files with a copy of all
scanned documents.
b-Wize Mail Order is perfectly tailored to the productivity
requirements of the mail order market. The user-friendly software interface
optimises processing productivity. B-Wize Mail Order automatically reads
all documents received by mail order staff in a single flow including
purchase orders, cheques, satisfaction surveys and coupons.
b-Wize Services/Industry automates document processing
for companies in the services, retail and industry sectors. It reads in
all incoming documents in order to optimise Customer Relationship Management
and increase information processing productivity.

SAP Certification for b-Wize Invoice Solution
SWT, has announced that it has achieved SAP certification for its latest
invoice processing olution: b-Wize Invoice. The certification means that
b-Wize Invoice customers who use SAP can now automatically convert all
their invoices into digital data, capture, read and match this information
against order data and deliver it into SAP in one straightforward step.
This level of integration enables them to achieve significant enhancements
in the overall efficiency of their invoice management processes.
Working with the mySAP Financials solution, b-Wize Invoice can be used
to scan a supplier invoice, extract the content from the header, footer
and lines items and send this information to the SAP server. Depending
on the server settings, the invoice is then automatically passed to the
next stage of the process. The b-Wize interface also handles the SAP server
return messages to provide appropriate feedback to the end user.
The SAP certification was achieved on a SAP R/3 4.6c platform, has been
validated with current versions of SAP—4.6d and 4.7 Enterprise Release—and
is also compatible with the two forthcoming major releases of SAP.
