THERE'S STILL TIME to register for Cimtech's last course of the year on 8 December: Electronic document and records management. Full details on our website (www.cimtech.co.uk/Main/CourseEvents_EDMS.htm) It looks at all aspects of successfully planning, cost justifying and implementing a corporate electronic document and records management solution.

Speakers include Cimtech’s Managing Director, Tony Hendley, and senior consultants John Walsh and Roger Broadhurst. They will explain the two core programmes of work needed to successfully implement and EDRM solution: agreeing and implementing a records management strategy and defining your functional and technical requirements for an EDRM solution, and procuring and implementing the right solution for your organisation. The course takes you through that process following Cimtech’s proven methodology. It reviews the information gathering and analysis tasks and guides you through analysing your business activities and drawing up a classification scheme and file plan. You will learn how to review your record keeping and draw up a retention schedule, audit your current systems and produce a gap analysis. You will also learn how to review your active document and content management requirements.

There is a review of the steps involved in defining a detailed statement of requirements for the preferred EDRM solution including all the functions and services required and the preferred implenttation plan.

The course concludes with a review of the range of solutions on the marketplace. The sessions are designed to be interactive with time set aside for discussion. It will be held at the Fielder Centre, University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield Business Park, Hatfield, Herts.
