Plasmon showcases new UDO® and Raidtec storage technology

PLASMON, specialist in professional data storage solutions, plans to demonstrate its latest archival and RAID storage products at SNW Europe being held in Frankfurt on the 4-6 September 2006.  New products on show will include the UDO Archive Appliance and Raidtec FX4000 Fibre Channel RAID solution.

Plasmon's UDO Archive Appliance is a hybrid archival storage solution that combines the ease-of-use and performance of Network Attached RAID with the longevity and authenticity of UDO (Ultra Density Optical) in a fully integrated solution. The UDO Archive Appliance is simple to deploy and provides faster access performance than tape, lower TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) than disk and more secure record authenticity than both disk and tape.

Diagram: Plasmon UDOThe UDO Archive Appliance is a fully integrated, archive solution that meets corporate polices and industry regulations for email and record retention. The tiered storage design is more cost-effective than a monolithic disk archive, faster than tape archives and more secure than both. The UDO Archive Appliance provides easy access, read/write performance, data longevity and flexible management control.

Simple to install and configure, a UDO Archive Appliance is up and running in only a few minutes. All archived data is cached on RAID for rapid access and immediately committed to UDO for long-term retention. Off-line replication and management features also allow UDO media to be removed from the system for archive expansion and low-cost disaster recovery.

The architecture of the UDO Archive Appliance combines proven technology components in an easy to use, cost-effective, solution. UDO Archive Appliance easily integrates with a range of applications including email, imaging and content management to provide the performance and flexibility demanded by organisations with challenging archive requirements.
